It's here. It's finally here.
Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie is directed by Raymie Muzquiz and stars Mason Vale Cotton, Benjamin Flores Jr. Francesca Marie Smith, Carlos Alazraqui and Alfred Molina.
Plot
Arnold and his class win a trip to San Lorenzo, but when they get captured, their only hope of getting home is going on the path that led Arnold's parents to disappear.
Review
I'm just gonna say it, this movie was fantastic. I loved every single minute of this movie, minus commercials though.
I'm not gonna give too much away because this film came out just a couple hours ago as of writing.
I'm sure that fellow Hey Arnold! fans like myself are aware of the development hell this film went through, I don't feel like going through all that now but here's a wiki link. And there was also test footage leaked a few years ago, which was conformed to be real by Craig Bartlett himself.
I wouldn't say this is a sequel to Hey Arnold! The Movie as it's more of a sequel to the episode The Journal due to the map, the Green Eyed People and San Lorenzo and stuff.
The cast is pretty good here with the people I just mentioned, Alfred Molina's good as the villain, and some of the voice actors from the show come back. Francesca Marie Smith (Helga), Anndi McAfee (Phoebe), Justin Shenkarow (Harold), Dan Castellaneta (Phil) and Tress MacNeille (Gertrude) all come back to reprise their roles, some others do too. Lane Toran and Jamil Walker Smith who were Arnold and Gerald in the TV show come back as different characters.
This movie was created as a series finale to tie up loose ends and answer unanswered questions from the TV show. But Craig Bartlett said that if this was successful enough it might start a new season or series. I would love to see that, but if this is a series finale, then this is a perfect way to end the show.
I actually watched this at a relative's house in the dark on their TV (they get Nickelodeon, I don't) mounted on the wall so it would feel like I was watching this in a theater, which reminds me of something: I said in my previous review that Hey Arnold! The Movie felt like it should've been a TV movie instead of a theatrical release, this film should have been released in theaters rather than a TV movie. I would pay to go and see this, it was that good. Regular Show: The Movie should've done that too.
This film had a twist somewhat early in the movie that I was not expecting and almost caught me off guard, and I almost got a little emotional at the end when I thought they were going to do something cliched and would ruin the movie, but they didn't. Not gonna say what it is because when you see the movie, you'll now what I'm talking about.
We also learn Arnold's last name even though it was said many times in the show but we just didn't know it. And we learn about what happened to Arnold's parents.
Overall, Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie was amazing, you should check it out, If you're a fan of the TV show then you've probably watched this film tonight. I loved this movie, it's amazing especially if you're a Hey Arnold! fan and this is probably one of my favorite films this year.
Now, if only they could get The Patakis off the ground, and we're good.
9.5/10
