Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Film Review

Image
Jurassicthon Day whatever Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is directed by J. A. Bayona and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, James Cromwell, Isabella Sermon, B.D. Wong, and Jeff Goldblum (somewhat). Plot Three years after the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park, Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that's about to erupt. They soon encounter terrifying new breeds of gigantic dinosaurs, while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the entire planet. Review So remember when I said Solo was enjoyable but there were things I didn't like about it? That's how I feel about Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom . It's a fun movie, but it is kinda disappointing. Also, I am going to be adding spoilers in here, as the movie's been out for a week now. This movie really added nothing new to the Jurassic Par

Jurassic World - Film Review

Jurassicthon Day 4 Jurassic World is directed by Colin Trevorrow and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, and B.D. Wong. Plot A new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree. Review This movie definitely brought the Jurassic Park series back from extinction after 14 years. Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park was the series, and then Jurassic Park III was the meteor that killed the series. Speaking of The Lost World and Jurassic Park III , Colin Trevorrow says that he's not removing those two from canon, he's just now  acknowledging them. That's fine with me. But this film definitely does not ignore the first movie, because we see Mr. DNA from the first movie, we see Zach (Nick Robinson) and Gray (Ty Simpkins) fixing up and driving one of the jeeps from the first movie.   Al

Jurassic Park III - Film Review

Image
Jurassicthon Day 3 Jurassic Park III is directed by Joe Johnston and stars Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Téa Leoni, Allesandro Nivola, Trevor Morgan, and Michael Jeter. Plot A decidedly odd couple with ulterior motives convince Dr. Grant (Sam Neill) to go to Isla Sorna, resulting in an unexpected landing, and unexpected new inhabitants on the island. Review This movie sucks. It is not good. And there are reasons for it sucking. The plot is once again, people going to an island full of dinosaurs, but for dumb reasons. This couple, Paul (William H. Macy) and Amanda (Téa Leoni) Kirby's kid is stranded on Isla Sorna after going kitesurfing with a friend of theirs and he's living in an abandoned plane. They tell Alan that they're wanting to go to Isla Sorna for their anniversary and they want him to be their guide because he's been on that island before (he hasn't) and they give him a paycheck to go there. That's probably how they got Sam Neill to agree to

The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Film Review

Image
Jurassicthon Day 2 The Lost World: Jurassic Park is directed by Stephen Speilberg and stars Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Vince Vaughn, Pete Postlethwaite, Vanessa Lee Chester, and Richard Attenborough, and based off the book The Lost World by Michael Crichton. Plot A research team is sent to the Jurassic Park Site B island to study the dinosaurs there while another team approaches with another agenda. Review Shouldn't the title be the other way around? The reason this film exists is because Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park became a hit so Steven Speilberg made it into the movie Jurassic Park , which became a hit so he asked Michael to write a sequel to his book so it can be made into a movie that is the sequel to the first movie. D'ya get all that? I'd say this is when the series started to go downhill, but it just got worse with the third one. This film has a lot of flaws with it. It's actually quite different from the first Jurassic Park , of cours

Jurassic Park - Film Review

Image
Jurassicthon Day 1 Jurassic Park is directed by Steven Speilberg and stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Samuel L. Jackson, Wayne Knight, and Richard Attenborough, and is based off of the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. Plot Paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park's mastermind, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt. Review Now I'm not seeing Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom today, which is the day it comes out. I'm not entirely sure when I'm seeing it, so I'm starting this marathon today. If I could sum Jurassic Park in a single sentence, it would be "This is why you shouldn't play God.&

Is it Worth the Wait? - Incredibles 2 - Film Review

Image
Incredibles 2 is directed by Brad Bird and stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Bob Odenkirk , Catherine Keener, Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner, and Brad Bird. Plot Telecommunications guru Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk) enlists Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) to fight crime and make the public like superheroes once again. That leaves Mr. Incredible with one of his greatest challenges ever -- staying home and taking care of their three children. As Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack offer him a new set of headaches, a cybercriminal named Screenslaver launches his plan -- hypnotizing the world through computer screens. Review I will answer the title question right now: Yes, it definitely is. Since this movie came out today, I won't get into many spoilers. I can't really decide if I think this is better than The Incredibles or not. If I choose The Incredibles over this, it's probably because of my nostalgia for The Incredibles . Both this and the first one would be

The Incredibles - Film Review

Image
The Incredibles is directed by Brad Bird and stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Jason Lee, Elizabeth Peña, Brad Bird, and Samuel L. Jackson. Plot A family of undercover superheroes, while trying to live the quiet suburban life, are forced into action to save the world. Review I'm not sure where to start here. I guess I could start with that I was a pretty big fan of this movie when I was younger and still kinda am. I still have the PS2 game that I got for Christmas quite a few years ago but I never beat it for some reason. Since, I don't know how to talk about this movie, I'll just talk about what I really liked about the movie until I wrap this up. I love how this movie is a tribute to the Silver Age of Comic Books and spy films from the 1960's. This is probably the best Fantastic Four movie we never got. It's better than all four Fantastic Four movies combined. I really liked the opening scene with Mr. Incredible (Craig T

Best F(r)iends: Volume Two - Film (R)eview

Image
If you haven't read my review of Best F(r)iends , you should read that first.  Best F(r)iends: Volume Two is directed by Justin MacGregor, and stars Tommy Wiseau, Greg Sestero, Kristen Stephenson Pino, and Rick Edwards. Plot As Jon (Greg Sestero) makes a run for it, he finds himself on a desert expedition, where wild characters and dark foibles intersect. As his misadventure teaches him about friendship and loyalty, Harvey (Tommy Wiseau) surfaces a surprise or two. Review I'm not sure where to start here. I had fun watching this movie, but I don't think it's as good as the first one. It feels like a very different movie than Best F(r)iends: Volume One did, it's about Jon and his girlfriend Traci (Kristen Stephenson Pino) going to her "uncle's" house (Rick Edwards) to try to get a safe that Harvey had in an ATM machine open. Now there were some things I liked about Best F(r)iends: Volume 2 , and there were some things that didn't make
