Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie - Film Review

Image
It's here. It's finally here. Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie  is directed by Raymie Muzquiz and stars Mason Vale Cotton, Benjamin Flores Jr. Francesca Marie Smith, Carlos Alazraqui and Alfred Molina. Plot Arnold and his class win a trip to San Lorenzo, but when they get captured, their only hope of getting home is going on the path that led Arnold's parents to disappear. Review I'm just gonna say it, this movie was fantastic. I loved every single minute of this movie, minus commercials though. I'm not gonna give too much away because this film came out just a couple hours ago as of writing. I'm sure that fellow Hey Arnold! fans like myself are aware of the development hell this film went through, I don't feel like going through all that now but here's a wiki link . And there was also test footage leaked a few years ago, which was conformed to be real by Craig Bartlett himself. I wouldn't say this is a sequel to Hey Arnold! The Movie a

Hey Arnold! The Movie - Film Review

Image
Just one more day... Bringing you a review for Thanksgiving with a movie that has nothing to do with Thanksgiving. Hey Arnold! The Movie is directed by Tuck Tucker and stars Spencer Klein, Francesca Smith, Jamil Walker Smith, Paul Sorvino, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and a cameo by Christopher Lloyd. Plot Arnold (Spencer Klein) and his best friend Gerald (Jamil Walker Smith), learn their beloved neighborhood is about to be torn down by a greedy developer named Scheck (Paul Sorvino) to build a mall. While the adults give up hope, try to stop the bulldozers, or come up with a scheme to get rich, the two try a more practical approach to the problem with the help of Helga (Francesca Marie Smith) and a spy named Bridget (Jennifer Jason Leigh). The kids discover their neighborhood was designated as a historical landmark but they must prove it before Scheck moves in with his crew. Review In case you didn't know, I love the Hey Arnold! TV show, it's in there with my top 3 Nicktoon

Get Out - Film Review

Image
Get Out is directed by Jordan Peele  and stars Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Catherine Keener and Caleb Landry Jones. Plot Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend Rose (Allison Williams) go to visit her parent's (Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener) for the weekend. At first, Chris reads the family's behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend goes on, Chris learns the truth, which he never could have imagined. Review I just watched this film for the first time today and I have to say that it's really good. Jordan Peele is mostly known for the sketch comedy show he did with Keegan-Michael Key called Key and Peele  and they did a movie together called Keanu  which was actually my first R-rated film in theaters. This is a big departure from Peele's other work, this is a serious horror film, which he actually did really well and this is probably one of my favorite films I

SPOILER FREE - Justice League - Film Review

Image
Justicethon Day 8 No Spoilers Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller. Here we are. The Justicethon has come to an end. Plot  After the events of Batman v Superman , Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) search to find three meta-humans, The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) to create a superteam, the Justice League, to stop Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and his army of Parademons from hunting down the three Mother Boxes. Review Let me just say that this movie is awesome ! I don't care what Rotten Tomatoes says, or that some people don't like it, this movie is awesome ! I'd say that with films such as this and Wonder Woman, the DCEU is taking a turn for the better, this isn't the greatest superhero film of 2017 ( Logan is) but this is pretty good. There is some obvious green screen here, since this had some reshoots because

Wonder Woman - Film Review

Image
Justicethon Day 7 Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Danny Huston, Robin Wright and Connie Nielson. Wonder Woman is the fourth film in the DCEU and the second not directed by Zack Snyder. Plot Set in 1918, long before the other 3, Princess Diana (Gal Gadot) grows up on the Amazon island of Themyscira. American pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crashes offshore of the island and is rescued by Diana. After he tells Diana about World War I, she leaves her home in order to end the war. Review Let me just say: This is the best of the DCEU by far, it looks great, the story's great, the cast is great. This actually reminds me of two Marvel movies I've seen, Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor . CA:TFA was about a superhero going into a world war (I know they're 2 different wars) and Thor was about someone from another realm based on mythology coming into our society (I know Themyscira is on Earth and Asgard is on a dif

TRIGGER WARNING - Suicide Squad - Film Review

Image
Justicethon Day 5 WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS UNPOPULAR OPINIONS! IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY THAT, man get a life. Suicide Squad is directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman. Here we are, the black sheep of the DC Extended Universe: Suicide Squad . The third of the series and the first not directed by Zack Snyder. This is actually the first DCEU film I saw in theaters, and I thought it was pretty good, but I haven't watched it again until I watched the extended cut on Blu-Ray today. Does it hold up to what I thought? Let's find out. Plot With Superman dead, the world needs a new band of superheroes to step into the breach. Senior US Intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) comes up with a plan - use extreme criminals with special abilities to fight crime, in exchange for them receiving reduced sentences. The band of crime fighting criminals is officially known as Task Force X, but due to the nature

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Film Review

Image
Justicethon Day 4 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams and Jesse Eisenburg. Plot It's been nearly two years since Superman's (Henry Cavill) battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) almost completly destroyed the city of Metropolis. The massive damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign on Earth, while the conniving Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade against the Man of Steel. Review I actually first saw this movie last year when I rented it from a RedBox before seeing Suicide Squad but I own the Blu-Ray now so I should stop rambling. I literally have no idea where to start with this, like it's not crap , but it's not great . Let's start with the story, for a 2 1/2 hour film, this really c

Man of Steel - Film Review

Image
Justicethon Day 3 Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, and Russel Crowe. Plot Man of Steel is pretty much a Superman origin story. He grew up in Smallville, learns who he really is, and has to save earth from Zod. Review I didn't see this when it came out because I wasn't really watching that many movie in 2013, so I rented this last year so I could understand Batman v Superman, and I watched that to understand Suicide Squad . When I first saw this, I thought it was just ok. On second viewing I enjoyed it more, but still don't love it. Zack Snyder is an ok director based off the three movies I've seen from him. I loved Watchmen, I enjoy Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman is average. There are some things I found weird about it, such as in the scene where Superman (Henry Cavill) breaks Zod's (Michael Shannon) neck (oops spoiler) when he's about to kill the family with his laser vision, why co

Justice League: War - Film Review

Image
Justicethon Day 2 Justice League: War is directed by Jay Olivia and stars Christopher Gorham, Justin Kirk, Shemar Moore and Jason O'Mara. So I just watched this movie   for the first time today, and I can say that it's good, not great or bad, but good . Plot Justice League: War is pretty much an origin story about how the Justice League started. It has Batman and Green Lantern discovering a Mother Box, some sort of alien computer, and they go to Superman to ask if he knows what it is, he doesn't. It also has the origin of Cyborg in it too, as the son of a scientist studying a Mother Box supplied by The Flash. It explodes when he grabs it this summons Parademons to the building, leaving Victor (Cyborg) injured and he is rebuilt as Cyborg. A while later and several portal bringing Parademons on to Earth later, Darkseid invades Earth and after a long battle, he is defeated. Review As I said, this movie was just good . It's enjoyable but it's not up ther

Justice League: The New Frontier - Film Review

Image
Justicethon Day 1 Justice League: The New Frontier is based off of the comic series DC: The New Frontier . I have not read the comic so I'm only talking about the movie. The the movie is set in the 1950's and even has the art style of the Golden age of comics. The film  is about the Justice League forming to take down this floating island, The Centre, though they don't really team up until around near the film's end. It shows J'onn J'onzz before he became Martian Manhunter, as he spends a small portion of the movie disguised as a detective. Hal Jordan is a Korean War pilot who gets shot down, then recruited for a mystery space program. He is soon contacted by a dying alien and given the Green Lantern ring. The Flash finds himself struggling to continue doing his super-heroics without being forced to agree with the government, so he announces his intention to stop being a hero altogether on television. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are pretty muc

This is Spinal Tap - Film Review

Image
It's 11/11 so I have to do this. This is Spinal Tap is a mockumentary about director Marti DiBergi (Rob Reiner, also the film's director) who follows the fictional British rock band Spinal Tap (Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer) on their tour of the USA and everything that can go wrong does. If you're a rock fan and you haven't seen this, change that. This film is great, it's one of the best mockumentaries ever. I actually rewatched this at a music venue near where I live a couple months and I just watched it again today. One of the funniest scenes in the movie (and probably the most iconic) involves why I chose today to review this. In the scene where Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) is talking to Marti about guitars and shows that their amplifiers go up to 11 . Another one is Nigel complaining about the size of the bread and meat and having to fold them backstage at one of their shows. Another funny part is Spinal Tap talking to Mart

Worst Movie of 2017 - Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - Film Review

Image
If you saw that title and thought of another certain  animated movie, let me say out loud: I am NOT reviewing The Emoji Movie. I don't want to see it or review it, I don't even want to acknowledge that thing's  existence. All good? OK, on to the review. oh god, oh GOD. ohhhhh I just watched  Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and my god it SUCKED! This thing is pretty much just Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory  with Tom and Jerry thrown in so there's not much to say about the plot. Warner Bros. need to know that most crossovers don't work. Scooby-Doo and Batman, Scooby-Doo and Kiss, Scooby-Doo and WWE, Scooby-Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon, The Flintstones and WWE, The Jetsons and WWE, Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes. I'm going to stop mentioning them here, I haven't seen any of them except this, but I haven't heard the most positive things. I watched this thing online and I have to say: 1. If you're on

V for Vendetta - Film Review

Image
Remember, remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and   plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. V for Vendetta is produced by the Wachowskis who did The Matrix and is based off of Alan Moore's amazing graphic novel of the same name. V for Vendetta is set in a future dystopian future where London is a police state occupied by a fascist government, and a vigilante known only as V (Hugo Weaving) uses methods of terrorism to fight the oppressors of the world in which he now lives. When V saves a young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) from the Fingermen (secret police), he discovers an ally in his fight against England's oppressors.     This is definitely one of my favorite comic book films, and might be one of my favorite films in general. Moore's comic is one of my all time favorites too. He's probably my favorite comic writer despite reading only three of his works. Hugo Weaving plays V, a mysterious vigilante with

Thor: Ragnarok - Film Review

Image
Well, Thor: Ragnarok came out today and I saw it, and I gotta say... it's great. This is definitely the best of the Thor movies. Thor and Thor: The Dark World were ok, but they weren't the best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rather low in terms of greatness. I actually didn't watch those two until just a few days ago, but that's beside the point. Plot Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor's quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization. Review Thor: Ragnarok is much better than the first two Thor films, which you should watch and both Avengers films before this, and probably the most humorous MCU film, more than Guardians of the Galaxy . Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song is actually in the movie, and not just fo
