Man of Steel - Film Review
Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, and Russel Crowe.
Plot
Man of Steel is pretty much a Superman origin story. He grew up in Smallville, learns who he really is, and has to save earth from Zod.
Review
I didn't see this when it came out because I wasn't really watching that many movie in 2013, so I rented this last year so I could understand Batman v Superman, and I watched that to understand Suicide Squad.
When I first saw this, I thought it was just ok. On second viewing I enjoyed it more, but still don't love it.
Zack Snyder is an ok director based off the three movies I've seen from him. I loved Watchmen, I enjoy Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman is average.
There are some things I found weird about it, such as in the scene where Superman (Henry Cavill) breaks Zod's (Michael Shannon) neck (oops spoiler) when he's about to kill the family with his laser vision, why couldn't they have just moved out of the way?
Also, when Clark had those visions at school, he was like 9 when that happened, so why did it happen to Zod immediately after he arrived on Earth?
There are some parts I did like, one part I though was funny was when a trucker in a diner pisses off Clark after harassing a waitress, so he tries to punch Clark but he's unmovable and later he destroys his truck.
And there's a part where Lois Lane (Amy Adams) is in an interrogation room with Superman and he says the "S" on is chest mean "Hope" on Krypton so technically he should be Hopeman.
In one scene you can see a tanker truck has says "LexCorp" on it, and another scene has a satellite that has a Wayne Enterprises logo.
The cast is really good in it, we have Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois, Russel Crowe as Jor-El, Michael Shannon as Zod, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, and even Laurence Fishburne as the boss of Daily Planet.
Overall, Man of Steel is enjoyable, not the best of the DCEU, though I enjoyed it more the second time. The cast is good, but it could've had a better script and director. I would recommend it though.
Stay tuned for tomorrow with a review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
