Nathan Talks Film

Well, 2017 is about to end, 2018 is about to start. It's been a good year for movies, so I will rank all the movies I saw this year. The ones I already reviewed I will say a few words about and then link the review, while the ones I didn't review will be like little mini-reviews. Grab some popcorn, it's gonna be a long ride. I want to point out, there are movies that came out this year I heard were great that I did not see, so movies like John Wick: Chapter 2  or War for the Planet of the Apes  will not be on here, so if there's something you thought was awesome that's not on here, I'm sorry. Another thing I want to say is that this is how I feel about these movies right now, so my opinions may change over time. I may be sick, but at least I get to reveiw Bright . Bright is directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Lucy Fry and Noomi Rapace. Plot Set in a world where mystical creatures live side by side with humans. A human cop, Daryl Ward (Will Smith) is forced to work with an Orc (Joel Edgerton) to find a weapon everyone is prepared to kill for. Review I don't know where to start, I really don't like this movie. This film's premise is interesting, humans and mythical creatures living side by side, but fails in every way. I should also mention that the guy who directed this directed Suicide Squad , which I reviewed last month. Suicide Squad  is much better than Bright . I really don't remember much about the story as this is a very forgettable movie. It has very slow pacing too, I kept checking to see how much longer I had left to watch. There's a lot of stuff that could have been cut from a movie that's just a little under two hours.

Death Note is directed by Adam Wingard and stars Nat Wolff, Lakeith Stanfield, Margaret Qualley, Paul Nakauchi, Willem Dafoe and is based off of the manga Death Note  by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. Plot A high school student named Light Yaga- I mean, Turner (Nat Wolff) discovers a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written within its pages, and joins his girlfriend Misa Aman- I mean Mia (Margaret Qualley) to kill criminals with it. And L (Lakeith Sanfield) is investigating it. Review Before getting into the review, let me say a few words about the source material: I don't know too much about Death Note . I've seen about two episodes of the anime, and I read the first four volumes of the manga in the Black Edition, which collects two volumes in one book. While what I have seen and read of Death Note  was good, this thing is not. I'm not going to compare this thing to American anime adaptations like Dragonball: Evolution, Speed

1922 is directed by Zak Hilditch and stars Thomas Jane, Molly Parker, Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Neal McDonough, and is based off the novella 1922  by Stephen King. Plot Wilfred James (Thomas Jane), a farmer conspires to murder his wife (Molly Parker) for financial gain and convinces his teenage son (Dylan Schmid) to participate and they deal with the consequences of it. Review This is the fourth Stephen King adaptation we've gotten this year and the third one I have seen, I haven't seen The Dark Tower . This is also the second Stephen King Netflix film we got this year after Gerald's Game, which I have seen. I'd say I'm more of a Stephen King newbie than I am a huge fan. I have quite a few of his books but have only read Misery  out of the ones I own and I've read parts of some of his others. I haven't read the story for this either. The film is actually quite gory, but it's based off a Stephen King story, so you should expect that. Like

Die Hard 2: Die Harder  is directed by Renny Harlin and stars Bruce Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, Franco Nero, William Atherton, Reginald VelJohnson, William Sadler, John Amos, Dennis Franz and based off the novel 58 Minutes  by Walter Wager. Plot Two years after the events of the first Die Hard , John McClane (Bruce Willis) is involved in another terrorist plot. This time it's a plane hijacking in Washington DC led by former Colonel William Stuart (William Sadler) in a church. That same night, South American politico and drug profiteer Ramon Esperanza (Franco Nero) is arriving in U.S. custody. Review I will say, this is not your typical cheesy 80's action movie sequel (this movie was made in 1990 btw), this movie is actually good, but it's not as good as the first Die Hard . Die Hard  is directed by John McTiernan and stars Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson, Paul Gleason, and based off the novel Nothing Lasts Forever  by Roderick Thorp. Plot John McClane (Bruce Willis), an NYPD cop, tries to save his wife Holly Gennaro (Bonnie Bedelia) and several others that were taken hostage by German terrorist Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles. Review Before I actually get into the review, I wanna go into a little history. In 1966 Roderick Thorp published his novel The Detective , and two years later it was adapted into a movie of the same name starring Frank Sinatra. In 1975, Thorp saw the film The Towering Inferno , and in the year 1979 Thorp published his novel Nothing Lasts Forever to be made into a movie starring Frank Sinatra. Forcethon Day XI Star Wars: The Last Jedi is directed by Rian Johnson and stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Adam Driver, Oscar Issac, Laura Dern, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. Plot Rey (Daisy Ridley) develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker (Luke Skywalker), who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares to do battle with the First Order. Review  For those who haven't seen this movie yet, because it's a day old, I won't go into many important details. This film is great, it's a lot better than The Force Awakens . This is one of my favorite films of 2017. The only thing I'll really go into that I wasn't a major fan of was the subplot with Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran). Forcethon Day X Star Wars: The Force Awakens  is directed J. J. Abrams and stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Issac, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, and a cameo from Mark Hamill. Plot 30 years after Return of the Jedi , Rey (Daisy Ridley), a scavenger from the planet Jakku, finds BB-8, a droid that knows the whereabouts of the long lost Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamil). Rey, as well as a rogue stormtrooper, Finn (John Boyega), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) are thrown into the middle of a battle between the Resistance and the legions of the First Order. Review This is the first great Star Wars film since 1983. I know I said I liked Revenge of the Sith , but that movie isn't great. I think this one is. This was actually my favorite film of 2015. Forcethon Day IX Net Neutrality is gone, but at least I get to review Return of the Jedi . Return of the Jedi  is directed by Richard Marquand and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Warwick Davis, Ian McDiarmid, Anthony Daniels and James Earl Jones. Plot In the third of the original trilogy, the Empire prepares to crush the Rebellion with a more powerful Death Star while the Rebel fleet mounts a massive attack on the space station. Luke Skywalker confronts his father Darth Vader in a final climactic duel before the evil Emperor. In the last second, Vader makes a momentous choice: he destroys the Emperor and saves his son. The Empire is finally defeated, the Sith are destroyed, and Anakin Skywalker is thus redeemed. At long last, freedom is restored to the galaxy. Forcethon Day VIII The Empire Strikes Back is directed by Irvin Kershner and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Frank Oz, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and James Earl Jones. Plot Three years after the events of Star Wars , the rebels have been overpowered by the Empire on their newly established base, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) takes advanced Jedi training with Master Yoda (Frank Oz), while his friends are followed by Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) as part of his plan to capture Luke and bring him to the Dark Side. Review It took eight days to get to the best of the entire saga. I love this movie, this is in my top 5 favorite films of all time. This in my opinion is the one of the best sequels of all time, second only to  The Dark Knight . I haven't really noticed a lot of changes for the special edition for this, I wasn't really looking. The Disaster Artist is directed by James Franco and stars him, Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Allison Brie, Zac Efron and Paul Scheer and is based off of Greg Sestero's non-fiction book of the same name. Plot Based off the book The Disaster Artist , it tells the story of Greg Sestero (Dave Franco) meeting Tommy Wiseau (James Franco), moving to LA with him, and the making of the movie The Room . Review I saw this movie last night and now I'm gonna tell you what I thought about it. I said in my review of The Room  that it's the greatest movie ever made, so by that logic, The Disaster Artist  is the second greatest movie ever made. This is one of the best movies of the year, this is in my top 5 movies of 2017. I can understand why this got a standing ovation at the SXSW film festival back in March. I know I've brought up that I don't like Rotten Tomatoes, but I forgot to mention this in my review of The Room . This film got a 94% on there. Understandable, a lot
