Deadpool 2 - Film Review

Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch and stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, T. J. Miller, Zazie Beetz, Julian Dennison, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic, Bill Skarsgard, Terry Crews, Leslie Uggams, Shioli Kutsuna, and Karan Soli

Plot
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the Yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover.

Ok, that's not the real plot. The real plot is Deadpool starting a superhero team, the X-Force, to stop Cable from killing a young mutant.

Review
Ok, this is a completely spoiler free review. If you want to know about the spoilers, I'll link my spoiler talk here.

This movie is a blast to sit through. I don't think it's better than Deadpool, but it is a blast. Also, best end-credits scene ever. There is no post-credits scene, which kinda sucks, but at least we get the amazing mid-credits scene. I can't tell you what happens in this review, but I can talk about it in my spoiler discussion.

The plot is very Terminator-like to me. Mostly Terminator 2. Someone from the future goes into the past to kill a kid to change the future. Change the T-1000 to Cable and John Conner to Russell.

Wow, this is quite hard to write without the spoilers but I'm gonna try it.

I loved seeing the X-Force team up in the movie. That was awesome. There was also a villain from the comics who I was not expecting to see and it was a way better portrayal of him in another movie in the X-Men series.

One thing that was definitely different was Deadpool wanting to start a team. In the previous film, he went solo, he didn't do teams but in here he does now. I guess you'll need a team to stop someone like Cable.

The CGI for Colossus looked a little weird too. Well maybe not weird, but a little outdated. Colossus looked like a video game character in the movie.

Some of the time travel stuff makes it a little hard to follow, especially at the beginning and end. I go into it a little in the spoiler discussion.

Also, something you might think happens near the end, only for it to happen and then they undo it.

Let's talk about the characters. Not going into every character, just the main ones. Ryan Reynolds is just as great as Deadpool as he is in the first movie. I literally can't see anyone else playing this character. He's great, hilarious, awesome, and almost gets a little emotional toward the end.

Josh Brolin is amazing as Cable. With Avengers: Infinity War, this, and Sicario: Day of the Soldado, this is a pretty big year for him. But yeah, not sure who I like better: Evil Grimace or not Terminator. They're both really good.

Zazie Beetz was great as Domino in this movie. She's awesome, cool, and luck is a superpower! I don't know much about Domino as a character, but I think this movie is like the filmmakers own version of Domino, one way it shows is that she looks nothing like the comic version, but that isn't much of a problem.

Julian Dennison was great as Russell/Firefist. I heard that Julian is actually the only actor they considered for the role. In the movie he's being hunted by Cable. Can't really tell you why because of spoilers and everything.

Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand are back as Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead respectively. We actually learn something about Negasonic Teenage Warhead that we didn't know in the first movie and apparently this is the first time this has happened in a superhero movie.

All the other cast is good in here too. Karan Soli is back as Dopinder and he actually has more to do in this movie than he does in the first Deadpool. T.J. Miller is back as Weasel and he helps Wade start the X-Force. Leslie Uggams is back as Blind Al and she's really good. The other cast in here, Terry Crews, Rob Delaney, even Pennywise is a member of the X-Force.

Overall, Deadpool 2 is a blast to watch, but it isn't as great as the first Deadpool.

Deadpool 2 gets a 9/10.
