THIS REVIEW IS FILLED WITH SPOILERS!
Here's the spoiler-free review if you want to read it.
Avengers: Infinity War is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and stars everybody.
Plot
Now that Earth has put its mark on the universe through the Avengers, all superheroes, including ones from other parts of the Galaxy, need to join forces to stop the powerful Thanos from taking all the infinity stones and destroying the universe one planet at a time.
Review
I'm not holding back here, I'm going full spoilers. If you don't want to be spoiled, then why did you click on this review?
I already did my spoiler free review of the movie earlier today and now I want to talk about the spoilers.
I mentioned my non-spoiler thoughts in my non-spoiler review so you can go read that, I'm just talking about the spoilers in here.
Red Skull's cameo in the movie was awesome, however he is not played by Hugo Weaving and he is played by Ross Marquand instead. I'm glad we got to see where he went near the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. He's been on the planet Vormir (more on what happens on that planet later) since 1942.
Speaking of time, this film somewhat retcons Homecoming. Homecoming says that it's eight years after Loki's attack on New York in The Avengers. Infinity War co-director Joe Russo says that "it was a very incorrect eight years" and there's a scene where Iron Man and Doctor Strange are talking and they mention the attack that happened six years ago. If we take in that The Avengers was set in 2012 and Infinity War was set in 2018 then that pretty much retcons Homecoming.
I kinda wish they kept the Part I in the title because this is definitely a part 1. It even ends on a cliffhanger and says that Thanos will return. I guess we'll have to wait until next year to find out what happens.
The post credits scene with Nick Fury and Maria Hill is pretty cool, but it sucks they die and fade away but it teases Captain Marvel in the MCU. I know she's getting a solo movie set in the 1990s but I don't know if Captain Marvel will be in Avengers 4.
There's also scenes from the trailer that don't appear in the movie, like this scene is not in the movie, Hulk doesn't even appear on Wakanda in the movie. Also the scene with Natasha and Bruce's reunion isn't in there. Neither is Thor's "Who the hell are you guys?" when he meets the Guardians of the Galaxy.
My favorite scene was when Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and most of the Guardians were fighting Thanos on Titan and they have him trapped and they're just beating him.
Now let's talk about the deaths. Loki dies in the first few minutes of the movie, in some of the other movies you know he's coming back but I don't think that's the case for this movie.
Thanos kills Gamora in the movie on Vormir when she leads him to the Soul Stone. That I was not expecting. We even get some more about their relationship and we learn that Thanos kinda cares about Gamora. They show a flashback with Gamora as a child on her home planet and Thanos is attacking it and he then adopts Gamora as his daughter. We don't get to spend too much time with them however, which kinda sucks because you can see they still care about each other but it still has a bit of an impact when he has to kill someone he cares about.
There is a scene where the Guardians (except Rocket and Groot) go to Knowhere because that's where Thanos is and Gamora kills Thanos... or so she thinks. She stabs him and he asks her why, but it was an illusion created with the Reality Stone. Also in this scene you'd think that Drax and Mantis are dead but no, Thanos just chopped them up with the Infinity Gauntlet and when he leaves they come back to normal.
When Thanos snaps his fingers with all off the stones, it kills half of the universe's population. This makes some of the characters disentigrate into nothing, Bucky, T'Challa, Groot, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Mantis, Strange, Drax, Star-Lord, and Spider-Man just fade away into dust. Spider-Man was emotional because he started freaking out and goes to Tony for help. Stark and Nebula remain on Titan and Banner, Okoye, Rhodes, Rocket, Rogers, Romanoff, M'Baku and Thor are left on Wakanda.
Also, Bucky's arm is made of metal so it shouldn't have faded away. Also, Rocket said he was going to get Bucky's arm. What I would've liked to see is Rocket survive and Bucky's arm doesn't fade away but Rocket isn't happy to have the arm.
Also, some of these characters die or just fade away but they have sequel movies confirmed. James Gunn confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is happening so I don't know what they're going to do.
There's a scene where Thanos almost kills Tony and Stephen just hands over the Mind Stone in exchange for Tony's life and he says that the end game has already begun. Of course Tony is angry and the audience might be too, but why did he do it? Earlier, he mentions that he saw over 14,000,000 possible outcomes and only one has the Avengers winning.
Knowing this, Strange has a plan on defeating Thanos. When Thanos almost kills Tony and Strange hands over the stone, Doctor Strange knows how to eventually defeat Thanos, which could either mean: Tony's survival is crucial to defeating Thanos, or Thanos can only be defeated after he collects all the stones and after he attempts to destroy half of the universe.
When you think about it, it makes sense because giving Thanos the stone is the right thing to do to save the universe, because Stephen doesn't care enough about Tony to save him.
I pretty much gave my conclusion and rating in my spoiler free review so I won't give it here.
This is my first time ever doing a spoiler review for a movie, I might do more in the future for movies as important as this. Hope you guys enjoyed it.
