The Avengers - Film Review
Infinitython Day 6
The Avengers is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Plot
When the mysterious and unpredictable power source called the Tesseract is stolen by Loki (Tom Hiddleston) from S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to rule the entire world the Avengers have to unite and stop Loki and his infinite wrath. The S.H.I.E.L.D. head named Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) tries to gather these heroes and prepares them for a mighty battle. When Loki returns and threatens to steal the Tesseract and use it to take over the world, Nick Fury must form a team of elite agents and superheros - featuring Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Agent Natasha Romanoff and Agent Barton - to save New York.
Review
This was actually the first MCU film I saw in theaters, I was 10 when this came out, and for some reason, I didn't get to picking it up on Blu-ray since last year, I'm not sure why.
This movie is awesome, and probably my favorite or second favorite of the MCU, I don't know, it's tied with Captain America: Civil War. If you're series takes five movies to get to the main movie, it better be good, and it is.
This film could've been a mess with all the characters in it, but it isn't, it works very well.
This movie has quite a bit of funny moments, like during the battle with the aliens and Hulk just punches Thor out of nowhere. There's the part with Loki telling Hulk that he is a god and then Hulk just starts beating him. The post credits scene with them eating shawarma is funny scene.
This movie introduced us to Thanos in the credits scene, but this was before Josh Brolin became Thanos.
I won't go into too many of the characters because I've gone into many of them already. Like do I need to mention that Robert Downey Jr. is great as Iron Man again? I don't really think so.
Mark Ruffalo is probably the best Hulk we've had, not just in the MCU, but in any movie with the Hulk. He is awesome.
Loki is one of the best villains in the MCU ever, and he's better in here than he is in Thor. He's evil, funny, devious, he wants to rule the world and he teams up with the Other to unleash aliens upon Earth through a portal ant the Avengers take him down. Tom Hiddleston is great as Loki.
Chris Hemsworth is just as great as Thor and his scene facing off with Loki is awesome. Also, Captain America's shield and Thor's Mjolnir should never touch each other. Ever.
Scarlett Johansson is really good and awesome as Black Widow in here and is better than she is in Iron Man 2, because in that film, she's just there to set up this movie. Her relationship with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is really good because they're both human an have no superhuman abilities and they're both agents on this team. They're both great in here.
Overall, The Avengers is the best of the Phase One MCU films and might be the best film in the MCU.
The Avengers gets a 10/10.
Stay tuned tomorrow for reviews of Iron Man 3 and Isle of Dogs, I saw Isle of Dogs today but didn't finish my review in time, so it'll be out tomorrow.
