Review
I think this is the first time Marvel has released two great films in a row, as this came out the same year as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is also a great superhero movie.

This film, much like Iron Man, made characters that pretty much only comic book fans knew about and made them mainstream.

This movie is just very entertaining. The best part of the movie is definitely the characters, they're all just so fun to watch. I don't think there's a member of the team that I would say that I don't like. I think The Avengers is a better movie, but the Guardians are more fun to watch than the Avengers as a team.

This movie could've been terrible as Marvel has never done a movie like this at the time, but no, this movie is amazing.

The prison scene is just awesome, so is the opening with Star-Lord on this deserted planet dancing and finding that orb, which we later find out has an Infinity Stone in it, and so is when Peter tries to do a dance-off with Ronan.

This film actually gave us Josh Brolin's Thanos, because in The Avengers, he wasn't played by him. He was in a couple more after this, but we'll really get to see more of him in Avengers: Infinity War. It also gives us some background on the Infinity Stones, and that's cool.

The music in this film is amazing, just amazing.

The only negative I can really think of is that the villain is kinda generic, but he does have his purpose. Peter has the orb and he wants it. He's also very serious and that's what makes the dance off funnier. We don't get to know too much about him, but that gives us more time with the Guardians.

Now let's talk about the characters. Chris Pratt is great as Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord, he's funny, awesome, and just really entertaining. He's like the Han Solo of the Guardians. He was born on Earth and after his mother dies, he is picked up by Yondu (Michael Rooker), who raises him like a son. Definitely one of the best characters in the movie.

Zoe Saldana is great as Gamora, an orphan from space who, along with Nebula (Karen Gillian), was adopted by Thanos and trained to be an assassin. However, she wants redemption for being Thanos' personal assassin and becomes a member of the Guardians.

Dave Bautista is great as Drax the Destroyer, he meets the Guardians in the prison and tries to kill Gamora because of her association with Ronan, who killed his family, but he eventually joins their team.

Vin Diesel is good as Groot despite only saying three words, Vin Diesel recorded Groot's lines in multiple languages so the voice would be the same throughout different dubs of the movie. Groot is a tall humanoid tree creature who is teamed up with Rocket (Bradley Cooper). It's almost a little emotional when he dies, but at least we get Baby Groot at the end, and in Vol. 2, but we're not talking about that movie yet.

Bradley Cooper as Rocket is my favorite character in the movie. Before seeing it, you might think he may be the Jar Jar of this movie, but unlike Jar Jar, Rocket is an amazing character. He is a genetically engineered raccoon who is also a bounty hunter and a mercenary. When you look at him, it barely looks like CGI and it looks like an actual talking raccoon.

Michael Rooker is really good as Yondu, the man who raised Peter as his own and helped him steal the orb, only to be betrayed by Peter and he then puts a bounty on his head. Rooker said that Yondu isn't a good guy or a bad guy and that he has some heart in him. That is very accurate.

When you think about it, Mallrats has Michael Rooker, who played Yondu, Ben Affleck, who played Daredevil, and Stan Lee. The movie also has quite a bit of Marvel references, so I guess you could say Mallrats is a Mavel movie without actually being a Marvel movie.

Overall, Guardians of the Galaxy is an amazing film and great entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy gets a 9.5/10. Can't quite give it the full 10/10 because of the villain.
