Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Film Review
Infiniftython Day 9
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Plot
Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), finding it easier to acclimate to the modern society as a soldier of S.H.I.E.L.D, learns that the organization has been compromised and a Soviet assassin known as The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) will stop at nothing to kill Captain America, which leads him uncover a truth that will change everything.
Review
This movie is definitely one of the best MCU films ever made, definitely in the top 5. This is a fantastic movie, I don't even know where to start with it. It's a superhero movie, spy thriller, and action movie all in one. Speaking of the action, this is some of the best that the MCU has to offer.
One of the best action scenes is the scene where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is attacked in Washington D.C. by HYDRA agents disguised as cops, but the best action scene is the fight on the bridge. That scene is awesome and has one of the biggest twists in the MCU, where Steve learns that the Winter Soldier is his old friend Bucky.
The battle with the Winter Soldier and Captain America on the helicarrier is awesome. Also, the fighting scene in the elevator is awesome too.
It's also got some good non-action scenes it it, like Steve at the museum and they have the Captain America section and the kid there sees and recognizes him. There's also a post credits scene with Bucky at the museum and he stares at the old picture of him.
One of my favorite small nods in the movie is when Steve, Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Nick Fury are at the cemetery at Fury's own grave and it says "The path of the righteous man -Ezekial 25:17". That's a small reference to Samuel L. Jackson's character Jules from Pulp Fiction. I thought that was awesome since Pulp Fiction is one of my all time favorite films.
I also really liked seeing Arnim Zola from The First Avenger back but as a supercomputer in a secret S.H.I.E.L.D facility in New Jersey, that was pretty cool.
The cast from some of the previous movies are back, Captain America, Black Widow, Nick Fury, and their actors are all great, but I mostly want to talk about newer cast members in the movie.
Let's talk about the Winter Soldier himself, at first he's an assassin who tries to take out Nick Fury (he fails as Nick survives, but he's still reported dead), and wants to kill Captain America, but it turns out that he was Steve's old friend Bucky, who was brought back from the dead and being brainwashed by HYDRA. Sebastian Stan plays is great as this character.
Robert Redford is really good as the villain, Alexander Pierce, a leader of HYDRA who was going undercover inside S.H.I.E.L.D and an old ally of Nick Fury, who eventually kills him, and he's the creator of Project Insight, a project that would've given HYDRA total control over the world. He tries to escape the S.H.I.E.L.D building with Black Widow as a hostage, but he's killed by Nick Fury before he can escape.
Lastly, I want to talk about Sam Wilson a.k.a Falcon. Anthony Mackie does a really good job as this character. He is a former pararescueman who uses a specially designed wing pack. In the movie, he meets and later becomes an ally of Captain America who helps take down HYDRA and Alexander Pierce.
Overall, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is definitely in the top 5 MCU movies and I can understand why people say it's their favorite.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier gets a 9.5/10.
