Avengers: Age of Ultron - Film Review

Infinitython Day 11

Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and James Spader.

Plot
After finding intelligence in Loki's scepter, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner use it to start Ultron (James Spader), a peacemaker, who soon uncovers the world's wrongs, and plans to rid human error. With help from experimented human beings turned allies, the Avengers search to hunt for Ultron, who is trying to make a synthetic human body to upload his mind into.

Review
Is this movie as good as The Avengers? No. Is it still good? Yes. This movie definitely isn't as The Avengers, but it is really entertaining.

It's got some really good parts, like Iron Man fighting the Hulk in the Hulkbuster suit while Hulk is under the influence of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

The party scene near the beginning is entertaining, especially when they're all trying to lift Thor's hammer and no one can pick it up, but then Captain America moves it a little. Hmm, is he truly worthy to pick up Mjonir?

The opening battle in Sokovia was pretty cool with all the Avengers fighting together.

The credits scene is really awesome with Thanos teasing Infinity War. It's a mid-credits scene, but for some reason they have no post-credits scene.

Also, the battle on Sokovia near the end is pretty cool with all the Avengers fighting Ultron and all his robots and then Hulk is sent off into space.

The battle wtih Ultron in the truck and on the train is a really cool scene, although Ultron captures Black Widow.

This movie actually gave us the first mention of Wakanda in the MCU, and Vibranium from Wakanda is used by Ultron to build this machine that lifted the town in Sokovia.

All the main MCU characters are great, but I only want to talk about the new characters, Ultron, Vision, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

I actually think Ultron is a pretty good MCU villain in this movie, and James Spader has a great voice for him. He is menacing and intimidating, but he's a bit charismatic and smart talking, like Tony Stank, who created Ultron. Stark and Banner created him with data from the Mind Stone from Loki's scepter to be used to protect Earth from any domestic or alien attacks, but he then turns on everyone and wants humanity to die.

Paul Bettany is good as Vision, he didn't really blow me away or anything but he's still good. He was an android created by Ultron, but is part of the Avengers. He's also worthy enough to pick up Mjonir.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen are really good as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. In the comics they're mutants, but the mutants are part of X-Men, which is owned by Fox, but this came out before Disney bought Fox, and they own them now, so can Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch still be called mutants?

Aaron Taylor-Johnson's good as Quicksilver but he's not as good as Evan Peter's Quicksilver from the X-Men series. Coincidentally, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Evan Peters were both in Kick-Ass, which is technically based off a Marvel comic, because Kick-Ass was published by Icon, which is owned by Marvel.

Elizabeth Olsen's good as Scarlet Witch, both she and her brother were actually introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the post credits scene. She's magic, can control minds, cause hallucinations, basically, he's fast and she's weird, like Dash and Violet from The Incredibles, btw there will be reviews of both that and the sequel in June, but that's beside the point.

Overall, Avengers: Age of Ultron is an entertaining sequel to The Avengers but it isn't as good as The Avengers.

Avengers: Age of Ultron gets an 8.5/10.

Stay tuned tomorrow for my review of Ant-Man.
