The Predator - Film Review
Predatorthon Day 6
The Predator is directed by Shane Black and stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Jacob Tremblay, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Alfie Allen, Sterling K. Brown and Keegan-Michael Key.
Plot
When a young boy accidentally triggers the universe's most lethal hunters' return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
Review
I don't think Shane Black gets Predator, which is sad because he was in Predator. Predator's not all about jokes, I mean the original Predator had jokes, but they weren't all the time or anything.
Shane was probably like "ok, so I'll take the traits from my character in Predator, and give it to every character" and it just doesn't work. MCU humor should only stay in the MCU. Also, Shane Black directed Iron Man 3.
There are more bad Predator movies than there are good Predator movies, unless you don't count the Alien vs. Predator movies, then the amount is equal.
There's also Predator dogs.
There was some controversy surrounding this movie recently were some scenes had to be removed once Olivia Munn told everyone that there was a predator who was acting in them. No not the Predator predator, the illegal kind of predator, who was put in the movie because he was friends with Shane Black.
So the Predators come back because Boyd Holbrook's kid (Jacob Tremblay) accidentally triggers some Predator technology that triggers them. He's also the next step in human evolution by having autism or something. Don't vaccinate your kids, people, they may be the next step in evolution and be hunted by aliens.
The newer, better, upgraded Predator is really cool, and seeing him tear apart a regular Predator is pretty awesome.
At the end, there's a new suit that automatically turns anyone who gets attached to it into a Predator Killer, and it was cool.
Now let's talk about the characters, I can't really tell you any of their names outside of Rory (Jacob Tremblay). None of the actors are actually bad in this movie, the script just wasn't good and they didn't need everyone to one up another character by telling them a dirtier or another joke.
Overall, The Predator is a disappointment. This is the second movie I've seen in theaters in a row that hasn't been good, the next thing I see better be good. Probably Venom, but I have my doubts on that.
I'm going to give The Predator a 5/10.
Well, that wraps up this marathon.
