Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation - Film Review

Mission: Impossithon Day 5

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, and Alec Baldwin.

Plot
Ethan Hunt is labeled as a rogue agent after the IMF is disavowed by the CIA. The CIA believes that the Syndicate is a figment of Ethan's imagination so they try desperately to take him in. Meanwhile, the Syndicate grows stronger and a British Secret agent who is undercover as a member of the Syndicate, joins with Ethan and his team to take down the Syndicate at last.

Review
Is it me, or does this series get better with each movie? (excluding the second, of course).

This movie takes the good parts of all the Mission: Impossible movies, shoves them in a blender, and we get Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and it's great. This movie reminds me most of the first one and Ghost Protocol. The really good suspense of Mission: Impossible, and the amazing action of Ghost Protocol.

Speaking of amazing action, the opening scene of Ethan on the plane is just amazing, definitely one of the best scenes in the entire movie.

The motorcycle/car chase scene is one of the best action scenes of the entire movie. There was also and underwater suspense scene that was just amazing. Even though I know Ethan is is Fallout, I was hooked.

Also the assassination scene at the opera was great.

Let's talk about the characters, Tom Cruise is amazing as Ethan Hunt. It's hard to believe that man is in his 50's and still doing his own stunts. I can't think of much else to say, he's great as Ethan.

Simon Pegg is once again great as Benji, the comic relief of the series, but he's actually helpful too.

Jeremy Renner is also great as William, and in this movie he teams up with Luther to track down Hunt.

Ving Rhames is great again as Luther, one of the best characters of the series.

Rebecca Ferguson is great as Ilsa, who's working for MI6 as an undercover agent in the Syndicate.

Sean Harris is fine as Solomon Lane. Just like the MCU movies, the Mission: Impossible series doesn't really have memorable villains. I remember he left MI6 to start the Syndicate.

Alec Baldwin is fine as the Director of the CIA. Yeah.

Sorry about the rather vague review, I was pretty busy IRL today and I didn't really feel like writing an essay on the movie, I hope this is good enough.

Overall, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation is my favorite of the series so far. I'm hoping that Fallout will be just as great, if not better.

See you tomorrow with a review of Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
