Review
For those who haven't seen this movie yet, because it's a day old, I won't go into many important details.
This film is great, it's a lot better than The Force Awakens. This is one of my favorite films of 2017.
The only thing I'll really go into that I wasn't a major fan of was the subplot with Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran). It just wasn't that interesting and as good as the rest of the movie. It's around 20 minutes long, not a 20 minute chunk, just total.
Oh, and another thing: The Porgs are not annoying!
Let's talk about the cast. Daisy Ridley is good as Rey like in the last one. She goes to the planet where Luke is on, and briefly trains under him. There's not much to say as she's the same in The Force Awakens.
Same with John Boyega as Finn, still great though.
Kelly Marie Tran is good as Rose, a mechanic for the ship that the Rebellion is on, who goes with Finn and BB-8 to that casino place.
Oscar Issac as Poe Dameron is pretty much the same as he was in The Force Awakens.
Laura Dern is fine as Vice Admiral Holdo, part of the Resistance, not saying how she got to her position though. Poe Dameron doesn't like her much.
Adam Driver is also great as Kylo Ren, who in this one has some kind of Force connection with Rey.
Carrie Fisher is great as always as Leia. I know she died last year but I'm not going into what they did with her.
Mark Hamill is great as always as Luke Skywalker. He starts off as some grumpy old man, but under all that grumpiness, he's still Luke Skywalker. He doesn't want to do anymore Jedi stuff but eventually starts to train Rey. We learn more about why he started living in hiding on this planet. I'm not going any more into what they did with him.
Overall, I loved The Last Jedi. It's one of my favorite films of the year and better than The Force Awakens and Rogue One.
This is the last film I'm seeing in theaters this year, but there are two movies on Netflix I want to catch up on, 1922 and Death Note, so those should be out sometime before the end of the year.
I'm sorry that this review wasn't as detailed as my other Star Wars reviews, but I don't want to spoil anything for people who haven't seen it like what I did in my Justice League review.
I'll probably take a small break from reviews for a few days. It's a little tiring writing for a few hours a day for eleven days.
9.5/10
